However, the setting was solid. It was in Ivalice, a world that has seen some great games come out of it (such as Vagrant Story and FF Tactics). The plot was great. The characters were amazing (discounting Vaan and Penelo). The antagonists always had clear motivations and were not just "bad guys". The theme was powerful. The cutscenes were artfully executed. And there was a lot I could compare to ff4 or ff6. But the rest was just... Terrible.

@Rhosius The music was.. Well the lack of Uematsu REALLY shows and much of it was just unmemorable. The gameplay was boring, excruciating, and so easily broken. The pacing was some of the worst I've ever seen. Having the story told from the eyes of Vaan-- someone who was completely irrelevant to the plot, didn't help in that department. Neither did the hours long never-ending dungeons between cutscenes thatd make you forget what happened in the last.

@Rhosius While I agree with you about FF13, and I don't believe any will disagree that it was an abysmal game with a terrible plot, FF12 actually had an excellent story. I've played every single Final Fantasy and I have to say I cannot understand your statement that "FF12 is so far removed from the rest of the series." Its plot was great. What was wrong with it was its gameplay, its art, its music, its pacing-- basically everything else. The art was dull and brown.

they all arent great. 12 and 13 are so far from the traditional final fantasy they should be seperate from the series. after 10 the whole battle system was remade. the battle system and great storylines are what made final fantasy. dont get me wrong 12 and 13 were good but i wouldnt say great just cause the stories in both were subpar compared to the others. the storylines are what i think of when i think about final fantasy. epic story/boss battles.

Yeah, My theory is that the "Engrish" version of the song sounds like "Rosome" in Japanese, so there was a mistranslation there. I also found some versions of the song called Loss of me.
