It would cease :P The only issue would be if the border was destroyed.. Reimu could fix the border if it was cracked by her own.. but if the border was destroyed i'm not sure if she'd be able to create a new border as apparently you needed to combination of Yukari and the miko to create the border of gensokyo.

The book that Reimu found contained a sectre resurection spell. In order to use the spell you need to sacrifice something of same worth as what you're resurecting. Reimu saw that the the Hakurei Barrier and Gensokyo itself had the same worth as Yukari, thus she's trying to sacrifice Gensokyo iteself in order to bring back Yukari. Alice, Marisa and Sakuya are trying to stop Reimu from breaking the boarder and ending Gensokyo.
