It's not about what can and cannot be seen, it's about what can and cannot be detected (at least in principle). If something cannot be detected in principle then it does not have any effect, it does not interact and therefore by definition either does not exist or may as well not exist.

I read it several years ago and found it nothing but a rant, not even a particularly good presentation of atheism. That Gideons Bible, however, has changed millions of people's lives. It has given hopeless people hope. It has turned many away from suicide. It has reunited broken families. It would seem those things alone would be worth the irritation to you.
